Social Studies
The grade four Social Studies curriculum focuses on New York State. Students will learn about its geography, including landforms, specific locations, natural resources, climate and topography. They will also study Native Americans of New York State and their influence on New York State history and society. A study of discovery and exploration as well as the early settlement of New York will include specific explorers, Dutch colonization, British influence and colonial life. Industrial growth and expansion will be studied with respect to immigration, industry, inventions, transportation and economics.
